From The Editor
When I applied to Publisher Brad Bloom four years ago to become the Executive Editor of a new online magazine that explores the connections between the outdoor lifestyle and the Christian faith, I remember telling my wife that I wasn't anywhere near qualified, but I would apply anyway.
Well for whatever reason, Brad gave me the opportunity and I discovered that I was in fact, over my head. Yet that's where God's grace enters in and allows for those of us with passion and desire to somehow overcome our other shortcomings and make something work inspite or ourselves.
After lots of interaction with Brad, thousands of hours of web programming, months of emailing and calling potential writers, and lots of prayer, we were able to cobble together a broad spectrum of outdoor lovers who were itching to tell their stories of exploration, discovery, and faith.
It has been an amazing journey, and one I couldn't have taken without Brad's expertise, the amazing passion from all of the writers that I have had the pleasure of working with, and of course our readers who came back month after month to see what adventures our magazine would celebrate next. Thanks to all of you. After 4 years, 21 issues, and over 300 articles, I am proud to say that we accomplished what we set out to accomplish: to create a central place for outdoor lovers of all kinds to join together in their celebration and exploration of all that God's great outdoors has to teach us.
It is with much sadness that I step away from the day-to-day operations of Shout! I continue to believe in the vision and have asked Brad to stay on as a contributing editor, but I need to make some space for some other areas in my life that have taken a backseat since this project came to fruition.
I hope and pray that you writers keep writing and readers keep reading, for it is now in transition that we need you the most. Please contact Brad (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have been hanging in the shadows and waiting for your chance to get involved with Shout! Outdoor Lifestyle Magazine: now is a great opportunity. You can have the same amazing experience that I did getting to know hundreds of outstanding individuals doing tremendous things in the outdoors and helping them tell their stories.
If you are out there doing it, being inspired by it, and want nothing more than to tell the world about it. Don't be shy. Go ahead and shout about it!
